Software for Hardware Publishes 2024 Business Trends Whitepaper
(Jan 22, 2024) Software for Hardware (SFH) releases its latest whitepaper, “2024 Industry Outlook: New Business Trends for Door, Frame, and Hardware Distributors.” This whitepaper employs interviews and industrywide survey data to discover common business strategies of door distributors in 2024.
To identify emerging trends and strategies, Software for Hardware interviewed its staff members. Ashley Saldivar, Client Support Manager of Software for Hardware, says, “I’m noticing distributors gravitate towards tenant improvement projects versus new construction.” Data from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is used to supplement Ashley’s observation.
Software for Hardware also interviewed its Customer Council members to learn how they were taking on new business. These insights led to the development of a survey, which Software for Hardware conducted with SFH customers and door distributors across the industry who do not currently use SFH.
This industrywide survey asked respondents to identify their greatest business challenges, how many different project types they typically take on, and if they sell or install security integration components, among other questions.
The data showed that many challenges reported by door distributors in recent years are still issues today. It also showed that distributors are taking on those challenges with a variety of strategies.
One of those strategies is technology. Technology is trending in the construction industry as door distributors use tools like estimating and project management software to fill gaps caused by the labor shortage. When integrated properly, technology becomes a valuable tool to combat current problems.
The paper acknowledges that construction growth rates are expected to slow in the coming year, and there is no clear end in sight for current industry issues; but by understanding trends and the different tools and strategies at their disposal, distributors can be well-equipped to adapt and tackle the challenges of the future.
